Leave No Trace Train

This session is an overnight experience in
the beautiful setting at Whispering Pines Program Center. Participants will
cover Leave No Trace principles and tools for sharing these low impact
skills with front/backcountry users. Leave No Trace is a program created to
educate others about our natural environment and protect it. Trainers and
Leaders now have the opportunity to become highly skilled in Leave No Trace.
Learn Leave No Trace travel skills and practices, wild land ethics, teaching
techniques, and gain a better understanding of the impact we have on our
sensitive world.
Each participant will prepare a 20-30 minute experiential teaching session
related to one of the Leave No Trace principles. When you receive your
confirmation, you will receive a listing of possible presentation topics.
Prerequisite: Safety-Wise and Exploring the Outdoors; Moving into the
Outdoors is recommended but not necessary.
Recommended for: Anyone who already has camping and teaching
experience. There will not be time to teach basic camping or training skills
in this 16-hour course. This course is also open to girls ages 15 or older.
Minimum: 7 participants. Maximum: 35 participants.
Registration deadline: March 2, 2006
Fee: $40 in council, $50 non-Girl Scout member (includes a Girl Scout
membership); payment due with registration. Course fee includes meals,
snacks, Leave No Trace Certification, training material, and pin. A packing
list will be included with the confirmation letter packet.
