Women in Science and Engineering (WISE) at the University of Arizona is launching their High School Mentoring program for students in southern Arizona.

Bi-Monthly Movies UA Women's Resource Center
When: 1st & 3rd Wednesdays of every month, 7:00 pm
Where: Gallagher Theater, University of Arizona Student Union
Who: Seniors and Ambassadors
Fee: Free. A great way to introduce your teen girls to issues important to women and to our community. Not all movies are appropriate for older girls, please use discretion. Call 520-621-3919 for current film schedule.

Through this excursion, you'll use different forms of alternative transportation to explore the town. You'll be amazed by the untapped resources available to you and all your friends!

Service is an important part of Girl Scouting. This Arizona Cactus-Pine Council's Own patch can be earned by completing 3 out of 4 activities during Girl Scout Week. Girls participating in this Girl Scout Week patch program receive the patch for participating, not for giving service which we do service without expectation of reward. Celebrate Arizona Archaeology and Heritage Awareness Month

Join us to learn about the ancient Hohokam who lived at the Vista Del Rio archaeological site. Supervised demonstrations and hands-on activities will be staged at sequential stations along a trail through the park. There will be demonstrations of traditional Native American crafts such as pottery-making, flintknapping and basket weaving; and hands-on activities including making pottery artifacts that participants can take home, grinding corn on an ancient metate and mano set, and learning to play at least one traditional Native American game.

Leave No Trace is an ethic that promotes minimum impact enjoyment and recreational use of the land. Learn how to have a minimal impact on the Earth while going on an overnight backpacking excursion and rebuild a trail.

• "Imagine If" game or craft project
• Hot dogs on the grill (and additional food items)
• Campfire and sing-along (weather permitting)
• Finish out the evening with a fun movie on our giant screen!

Learn how to be green by eating locally. Meet us at the Santa Cruz River Farmer's Market to check out produce from Southern Arizona. Help us pick out seasonal foods to take back to the Sahuaro Girl Scout Council Resource Center where we'll make a delicious meal. All girls will receive a recipe packet to take home.

3rd Annual Wellness Fair

APRIL 2010

From Earth to Eat:
Get Real, Garden Green!

When: Saturday, April 3, 2010, 9:00 - 11:00 am
Where: Sahuaro Girl Scout Council Resource Center
Who: Juniors through Ambassadors
Fee: $5.00 per girl, includes patch

Capacity: Minimum 10/Maximum 30 girls

Learn what it means to really be green when you garden. Girls will help plant spring and summer crops at the Resource Center demonstration garden. Girls will also get to make natural bug repellents and a compost bin. All girls will be able to take home seeds to plant at home.

Arizona Statewide Jamboree
When: Friday-Sunday, April 9-11, 2010, time is TBA
Where: Chauncey Ranch, Prescott, Arizona
Who: Juniors through Ambassadors

Get ready to Jamboreeeeeee Girl Scouts! Our Arizona statewide Jamboree is coming up in April. We return this year to the wonderful Chauncey Ranch in Prescott, Arizona. This year's theme is A Country Fair so look for all kinds of old fashioned fun! Troops will pitch their own tents and cook their own food as well as participate in all kinds of fun activities, games and challenges. The Jamboree committee is hard at work planning this event, so be on the lookout for more info in the months to come. This is a co-production of Arizona Cactus-Pine Council and Sahuaro Girl Scout Council, so it's your chance to meet and mingle with Girl Scouts from around the state.

You'll rotate through learning stations and tour different departments in the hospital. It's a great opportunity to work on requirements for Nursing IPs and badges, and it's a guaranteed good time! Fun patch included!

Travel Training: Destinations 101- A Girl Learning Opportunity

At this training you and your girls will learn all about the Girl Scout travel program and how to get involved. You'll learn how to find out about trips with nationwide participation as well as trips your troop can undertake on a DIY basis.
