Journeys and Badgework
Girl Scout Journeys
A key part of the New Girl Scout Leadership Experience is the leadership journey, a coordinated series of activities grouped around a theme. Each journey is tied to some of Girl Scouts' 15 national outcomes for girls, as defined in the Girl Scout Leadership Model. These outcomes are integral to the three leadership keys, Discover, Connect, and Take Action.
There is a leadership journey for each grade level. These initial journeys invite girls to explore a specific leadership theme for their level. Subsequent journeys will layer on more multidisciplinary content, like science and technology, healthy living, and the outdoors. Journey books for each Girl Scout level are available at the Council Shop.
The two Journeys are "It's Your World--Change It!" and "It's Your Planet--Love It!"

It's Planet--Love It! Journey II Descriptions by Girl Scout Level

Between Earth and Sky
This leadership journey features the story of three flower friends on a road trip that takes them through some of the world's greatest landscapes. Why that uniqueness is important- why it matters so much to the health of Planet Earth- is the big theme of Between Earth and Sky.

WOW!
WOW! calls on Brownies across the country and around the world to use their leadership skills and values to protect the waters of Planet Earth. The journey invites girls to engage their minds and hearts as they explore the Wonders of Water. What they learn about water, and the awe that this new knowledge inspires, will be the springboard to caring about this precious resource now and throughout their lives.
Get Moving!
Get Moving! calls on girls across the country and around the world to use their energy to protect Earth's energy. The journey invites Juniors to engage their minds and hearts as they explore the many forms, uses, and misuses of energy. Get Moving! challenges girls to safeguard Earth's precious energy resources by using their leadership skills- their ability to energize themselves and others, and their ability to investigate and innovate. Ultimately, they will educate and inspire others to use energy more efficiently too!

Breathe!
Breathing is at the center of life. Billions of living things breathe every moment of every day. That's why Breathe calls on Cadettes across the country and around the world to use their leadership skills and values to protect the air of Planet Earth. The journey invites girls to engage their minds and hearts as they explore air with all their senses. All along the way, they will be encouraged to reach for those moments of sparkling clarity that a breath of fresh air can bring. They will also be invited to use their flair- in everything they do. What the girls learn about air, and the curiosity that this new knowledge inspires, will be the springboard to caring about our planet now and throughout their lives.

Sow What?
Sow What? invites girls on a journey through some big food issues: how and where food is grown, processed, distributed, consumed- and so often wasted. As the girls dig in, they will ask themselves what good they can sow on Earth by adjusting their "food prints" and cultivating sustainable food (and people) networks. When harvest time comes, they will know that a big part of the answer to Sow What? is their own "leader print."
Justice
Justice. You've probably wished for it, for Earth and all its inhabitants, at some point in your life. This journey is your opportunity to soar toward the lofty ideals of justice. As the girls embark on a search for a meaningful and workable equation for justice, they'll investigate some hard realities. Then they'll set their idealism free as they explore what justice asks of each and every one of us. As you begin the search for justice, you'll find it useful to keep in mind that while plenty of "do-ing" is possible, this is, at its heart, a journey about thinking and believing.

It's Your World--Change It! Journey I Descriptions by Girl Scout Level
Welcome to the Daisy Flower Garden
In this journey for kindergarteners and first-graders, a favorite pastime-gardening-meets the Girl Scout Law. The result is a storybook world of flowers and little girls who, together, do great things. Girl Scout Daisies will especially enjoy meeting the colorful, global characters who teach them to live the Girl Scout Law. The adult "how-to" guide offers Garden Story Time tips, key ideas for garden projects, and all the Girl Scout history and traditions needed for an adventure starring Amazing Daisy, a new flower friend for Girl Scout Daisies.
Brownie Quest
What are the most important keys for a Girl Scout to own? This quest, which has second- and third-graders traveling along two colorful trails-one they can enjoy on their own and one they explore with their Girl Scout group-answers that question in a very special way. Along the Quest, Girl Scout Brownies will meet three new friends and a bright and shining elf-in a brand-new Brownie story meant to inspire their own Take Action Projects. The accompanying adult guide offers all the tips needed to create and maintain a sense of fun and mystery along the entire Quest. Instructions for a Brownie Brainstorm, Brownie Team Trade, and other activities ensure a quality and fun time for the girls.
Agent of Change (Juniors)
Power. In this journey, there's a whole spiral of it waiting for Girl Scout Juniors. The journey is filled with ceremonies and circles, real-life heroines, and special new characters, including the fashion-savvy spider named Dez. Along the way, girls learn how their own power combines into team power and then moves out to become community power (kind of like how Dez weaves her web from the inside out). The journey's centerpiece is a comic story of girl heroines who will inspire the Juniors as they take action to improve their own community.
aMAZE: The Twists and Turns of Getting Along (Cadettes)
Life is a maze of relationships and this journey has Girl Scout Cadettes maneuvering through all its twists and turns to find true friendships, plenty of confidence, and maybe even peace. The adult guide offers tips for talking about relationship issues with girls, and pointers for understanding Cadettes' development and creating a safe, welcoming space.
GIRLtopia (Seniors)
Girl Scout Seniors know the world is not ideal. This journey is their chance to imagine a perfect world-for girls. They're invited to create their vision as an art project-in any medium they choose. Then they'll take action to make their vision a reality. Leaders, after all, are visionaries!
Your Voice, Your World: The Power of Advocacy (Ambassadors)
How often have you seen something that really needed to be changed and wondered, "Why isn't someone doing something about that?" This journey gives Girl Scout Ambassadors a way to be that someone-an advocate with the power to start the first flutter of real and lasting change. While creating their own "butterfly effect," they'll gain an array of skills-such as networking, planning and learning to speak up for what they believe-that will benefit them as they prepare for life beyond high school.

By completing activities and earning the patch, girls can help create asthma awareness by reaching out to their community. Empowering girls to take charge of their health can lead to increased self-esteem and responsible decision-making.
You can download the Asthma Awareness Program book (English or Spanish version) containing patch activities for Girl Scouts of all age levels. A limited number of free copies are also available at Council Offices.
