Subject: Girl Scout Cookies
The other day my unit received a delivery we were not expecting. Curious as
to what we received, we opened it to find a HUGE box of Girl Scout Cookies.
Being overseas, Girl Scout Cookies are like gold. We love them, but they are
not as available as we would like. What a wonderful surprise! We took the
box to the end of day formation and the Soldiers went crazy; there was
enough for everyone to get at least a couple boxes. (I had to hide mine in
my desk to keep my Soldiers from taking them!) Your girls definitely put
smiles on our faces after an extra hard day of work! The cards inside the box
are hanging up in the headquarters building. We know you don't have to do
this for us, and we honestly appreciate your selfless gift to us. It makes
what we do worth it. I have attached a picture or everyone you sent the
cookies to. From all of us, we all thank you sincerely.

Girl Scouts: Do you need help finding an organization for your troop to support for the upcoming cookie season's Gift of Caring program?
Let Arizona211 help! Just go to http://www.az211.gov, click on "find help", type in a keyword (i.e. child abuse, animal shelters, etc.) and your zip code, and the site will provide a list of local organizations and their contacts. Thank you for supporting our community!
Community Service Program is a concept developed for Girl Scouts in which each troop can choose individually to participate.
How the Program Works: Discover, Connect & Take Action
Before the Cookie Program Activity begins, each troop decides which organization(s), in their community they would like to visit and deliver packages of Girl Scout Cookies donated by their customers (i.e., Troop To Troop, Homeless Shelters, Senior Citizen Centers, Women & Children's Shelters, Community Food Bank, etc.).
While order taking, each girl will ask her customers if they would like to purchase an additional package of cookies as a gift for that troop's chosen organization. She will explain that this is a Girl Scout Community Service Program.
• A blank column has been added to the order card for the Community Service Program packages.
• Each customer may write in the number of packages they wish to purchase for donation by entering a number in the blank column next to their own order.
• Each troop will add the number of Community Service Program packages and convert it into their choice of varieties. Each troop will order their cookies the same way as in the past. (No changes in ordering procedures above the troop level.)
• When the troop receives their cookies, all Community Service Program packages should be separated from customer orders.
• Each girl will collect the money for customer orders and Community Service Program cookies when delivering to customers, only if customer ordered their own cookies.
• Each troop should set a date/time to deliver the Community Service Program cookies to their chosen organization, meeting and communicating with the people.
• "Gift of Caring" patches will be given to all girls who participate in this program and place their order on E-Budde.
Troop To Troop Program
The Troop To Troop program has been a tradition in our Council for many years beginning with the San Pedro Service Unit and expanding to other areas where we have military bases. The program continues this year but with some changes.
If a Girl Scout troop has a connection to military personnel who are willing to receive cookies and ship them directly to deployed soldiers, the Council encourages the troop to utilize those relationship to get cookies to our Military Troops.
OTHERWISE:
SGSC has partnered with our Cookie Company and Operation Gratitude (a program of the USO) to ship cookies to soldiers. Here is how it works:
1. Cookies sold for the Council-Wide Troop To Troop program are sold only on a pre-order basis.
2. The first column (blank) on your cookie order card is for the Gift of Caring program, if girls choose to sell cookies for Troop To Troop they will put their orders in this column.
3. Please identify these orders as TTT.
4. Your Troop leader will record these orders into E-Budde.
5. Girls collect the money at the time of order for the Council-wide Troop To Troop cookies.
6. Once all orders are tabulated the Cookie Company will ship Sahuaro Girl Scout Council Cookies directly to Operation Gratitude.
This is a virtual Cookie program. The girls will not take possession of the Cookies. But SGSC guarantees that the Troop To Troop cookies will end up in the hands of military personnel around the world.
