Introducing COOKIES ON DEMAND!

This year we are proud to offer you Cookies on Demand where cookies will be available to girls from the first day of the sale!

Quick Facts:

  • Cost of Cookies: $4.00 per box
  • Starting Date: January 9, 2010
  • Ending Date: March 1, 2010
  • Starting Order Due: December 10, 2009
  • Booths Begin: February 4, 2010
  • Cupboards Open: The week of January 11, 2010

Why are we going with a direct sale?

Rather than taking preorders, girls will have cookies in hand on the first day of selling. This gives customers instant gratification and an opportunity for girls to "restock" their customers' needs throughout the sale.

What are the benefits of Cookies on Demand?

  • Increases troop proceeds with proven higher girl averages!
  • More cupboards closer to volunteers with more hours available!
  • Simple and less paperwork
  • Saves time with fewer trips to customers!
  • Going green! Reducing our carbon footprint!

When is training?

  • Service Unit Managers will host Troop Trainings during the month of November
  • Troops should train girls / parents mid-November, or the beginning of December

Is there an initial order?

No; however, there is a Starting Order that is due on December 10, 2009

How much should the troop order for starting orders?

We highly recommend the following amounts:
• Returning Troops - 70% of last year's total sales
• New Troops - 50 boxes per girl

When will the cookies be delivered?

  • Outlyling areas will receive their cookies between January 5th through January 9th
  • Tucson area will have the Cookie Drop on Friday January 8th (afternoon-evening)

Will girls still get an order card?

Yes! Girls will get 1 customer record card to keep track of their customers and their purchases. The card will also have Girl and Troop Recognitions shown.

Can girls still sell door-to-door?

Absolutely! The first three weeks of the sale is dedicated to individual girl selling. The last four weeks will allow for booth sales.

How would I get more cookies if my starting order is too low?

There will be more cupboards added throughout the Council to ensure your inventories will be well stocked. Cupboards will be replenished frequently and will be available the first week of the program.

Do Daisies have restricted selling?

No! Daisies can sell door-to-door and at booth sales, just as other girls. Remember to follow all Safety-Wise guidelines and keep activities age appropriate.

Is there a new cookie this year?

All the Girl Scout favorites are back! In place of the Sugar Free Chocolate Chip cookies, the new cookie this year is Thank you Berry Munch, real cranberries with creamy white fudge chips.

Will having the cookies in hand so soon after the holidays affect our sales?

If you have customers who are still recovering from the holiday season and would like to purchase cookies but need additional time, remember, our sale continues through all of February. You can always go back to customers when they are ready to purchase.

Won't this process confuse customers? Parents?

This program is designed to simplify processes for customers, volunteers, girls and parents. There will be detailed training provided by your Service Unit Cookie Managers as well as many resources provided for you on the website. We have a strong marketing plan in place for all areas across the Council to announce to the public the great news of Cookies on Demand.

What is the new Banking Process?

NEW! Introducing ACH Banking Process

With the 2009 Cookie Program, we ended the sale with nearly $100,000 in bad debt! $76,000 of it was troop debt. In an effort to streamline the banking process to a more efficient, simplified and effective system, we are introducing an ACH program. ACH stands for Automated Clearing House. It essentially is processes in which funds that are due to Council are transferred from the troop's bank account to the Council's.

All registered troops who are participating in the Cookie Program MUST:

1. Have a Wells Fargo Account. If there is not a WF in the community, they must bank with National Bank
2. Submit a completed ACH form to their SUCM PRIOR to placing a starting order
If a troop does not meet the above criteria, they WILL NOT be allowed to participate in the Cookie Program
NO exceptions!!!

All money collected for the program is to be deposited into the troop's account. Any bad checks that do not clear will not affect the troop. Fees accrued will be automatically redirected to the Council's account and the amount of the check will stay within the troop's account; funds that do not clear will be deducted from the Council's account, not the troops'.

A total of 3 transfers will take place:

  • February 1st: First ½ of the funds due for the troop's starting order
  • February 15th: The remaining ½ of the funds due for the troop's starting order
  • March 1st: The remaining funds of the sale that is due to Council

* All Council's that have adopted the ACH program for cookies have found it to be very effective, loved by volunteers, and minimized debt! It's an exciting new way of banking!
