This is the first session of the Helping Homeless Hounds series. Girls will be making dog toys to donate to a local shelter and one to take to a pup they know. Girls will learn about different kinds of dogs, what breeds like to play with toys, and which like to lay around. Girls will earn the Dog Breed fun patch.

Girls will see the inner workings of a model cistern, build their own berms and basins, and experiment with rain chains. The Nature Conservancy has examples of passive and active rainwater harvesting-cisterns from 300 gallons to 3,300 gallons. NPLD is the nation's largest hands-on volunteer effort to improve and enhance the public lands Americans enjoy. In 2009, 150,000 volunteers built trails and bridges, removed trash and invasive plants, planted trees and restored our water resources. We will be hosting projects in conjunction with the Catalina Boy Scout Council at Catalina State Park, Kartchner Caverns, Patagonia, Dead Horse Ranch, Buckskin Mountain and Cattail Cove. Projects will include things like trail work, painting, river clean-up and invasive species removal.

Come experience the thrill of free flying birds of prey at the Raptor Free Flight. Raptor Free Flight is a dynamic bird of prey flight demonstration that occurs in the open desert showcasing natural behaviors of native birds. Unlike other bird flight shows, the Raptor Free Flight focuses the attention on the birds and how they behave in nature. Self transport and pay Desert Museum admission. E-Council Registration is NOT necessary. Seating at the program is first come first seated, this is a general admission show.

This is one weekend you will NOT want to miss! Webelos Woods is an event that teaches girls and boys what Scouting has to offer. The weekend is set up with flexibility in mind, which means you could camp out one or two nights, or just come on Saturday. It is entirely up to you and your troop. On Saturday your troop will be taught eight Scout craft skills (fire building, Dutch oven cooking, knots, etc.). The afternoon brings games and activities (monkey bridge, human foosball, archery, etc.) and competitions (astronaut egg, lizzigator, etc.).

Our partnership with the Returned Peace Corps Fellows continues as they join us again for this special Thinking Day celebration! Troops presenting will be contacted by our coordinator after registering to determine countries they've represented before and what their preference is for this year. Every effort will be made to accommodate your preference, but selection is dependent on our available Peace Corps representatives. A work session will be planned prior to the holidays (date TBA).

Amazing Race

Rodeo weekend, teams will race all over Southern Arizona facing roadblocks, detours and eliminations, trying to become the first team to complete the Arizona Girl Scout Amazing Race 2011! Do you have what it takes to race to the finish line and claim the grand prize? Teams must consist of one adult and 2-3 girls. Fee covers the events, materials and meals needed for the duration of the race. Gas and items on a mandatory gear list are not included. Gear list will include clothing, overnight items and standard safety equipment, and will be sent with registration confirmation. Team members can swap out at specific points to allow for all girls in troops to participate.

Urban Explorers - Alternative Spring Break

Take advantage of your week off from school and come have a blast, Urban Explorer style! Take part in traditional camp activities like archery, arts and crafts and sand volleyball. We'll even learn to climb on a Rock Wall! Go for hikes around camp, try your hand at Mountain Biking, go geocaching and keep an expedition journal.
