Marketing/ Development Intern

CLASSIFICATION: Student Intern
REPORTS TO: Development Resource Specialist


POSITION SUMMARY

Sahuaro Girl Scout Council is seeking a dynamic student intern to assist with all marketing, special events, communications and public relations. Candidates must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications; Excel, Word, PowerPoint, have a willingness to learn fundraising software, enjoy interacting with the public face to face and over the phone and thrive in a face paced environment with minimal guidance and/or direction. It is important that candidates understand and believe in our mission: Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place.

The student selected for this position will learn a tremendous amount about all aspects of marketing and be asked to work with a fun team doing everything from the most basic of creating spreadsheets to coordinating major marketing events. Candidates must be able to work a minimum of 20 hours per week between the hours of 8:30 am and 5:30 pm Monday through Friday with some weekend availability for events. Pay is $8.50 - $10.00 per hour DOE. This position is not benefits eligible.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and coordinate selected marketing campaigns
  • Provide support for fund development and fundraising activities
  • Organize marketing events
  • Support development of property management system
  • Support website communication strategies
  • Perform job duties in accordance with the Safety and Risk Management Plan.
  • Beyond the description listed above, your skills will be utilized to best benefit the mission of the organization

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  1. Currently pursuing a marketing, communication, business, public administration or social service degree
  2. Excellent writing and communication skills.
  3. Unequivocal commitment to pluralism.
  4. Sensitivity to and ability to work with diverse populations.
  5. Excellent time management, planning and organizational skills.
  6. Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills.
  7. Willingness to work flexible schedule including some evenings and weekends.
  8. Possess mature judgment, sense of humor, flexibility and enthusiasm.
  9. Enjoys working with girls and adults and can communicate easily with both.
  10. Possesses the character, skills, and ability to be a positive role model for girls and adults.
  11. Ability to lift 20 pounds occasionally.
  12. Daily access to automobile in working condition or adequate alternative transportation. Proof of meeting Arizona State requirements regarding auto licensing, driver’s license, and liability insurance, if applicable.
