Parents are responsible for their daughter’s safety when she is selling cookies.

Here are a few safety guidelines.

  • Girl Scouts must be supervised by an adult when taking orders or delivering cookies.
  • Girls should participate in door-to-door and booth sales only during daylight hours.
  • Girls should be familiar with the neighborhoods in which they sell.
  • Girls should sell with a buddy.
  • Girls should wear Girl Scout identification such as a pin, uniform, sash or Cookie T-shirt.
  • Girls should never enter a customer’s home.
  • Girls should never give out their names, addresses or telephone numbers to customers.
  • Girls should obey all pedestrian laws, especially when crossing at busy intersections.
  • Girls and their parents are not allowed to sell cookies over the internet or on E-bay, although friends and family may be solicited by e-mail.
  • Girls should not carry large amounts of money or take money to school. Money should always be safeguarded by supervising parent or adult.
